Over the past several years there has been increasing interest in the restoration of Native Prairies and the preservation of prairie plant species.  These wildflowers and grasses are highly adaptable to difficult soils or conditions and can provide very interesting colors, forms and textures. Over time prairie plants develop extensive root systems and therefore can tolerate a variety of soil and moisture conditions. After the native plants are established they require very little irrigation, and no fertilizer or pesticides making them ideal for low maintenance situations.

Native grasses and flowers have become more popular with the home gardener interested in the environment. Many native plants have strikingly varied foliage and flowers which will provide great seasonal interest. Long after the blooms are gone the unique shapes and foliage of these plants can be a focal point of your garden well into the winter season. These plants will attract wildlife, birds and butterflies to your garden throughout the year.

We carry a large number of varieties of native prairie and woodland flowers and grasses and promote their use in landscape designs for the home gardener. Our plants are started in our greenhouse using seed from sources in the Upper Midwest.  They are sold either as one or two year old plants in deep 4 inch (quart) pots. All of our native plants are hardy to zone 4 and most are hardy to zone 3. We do not ship outside of the United States.
